First steps
Your Patrima account
Signing in, protecting your account with a code, keeping your address verified, and the controls you have over your data.
On this page
Your Patrima account lets you sign in and access your tracked accounts. Keep your email address accessible and verified to receive account messages and, where included in your plan, critical alerts.
Sign in with your email address and a password, or with a Google or GitHub account. During the private beta, an account can only be created with the approved address, including when you first sign in with Google or GitHub.
When an account's address has never been confirmed, the sign-in page says so once the password is right, and can send the confirmation email again. After too many attempts in a short time, the page says so too: signing in works again a few minutes later. Any other refusal reads as an invalid email or password, so the page never tells whether an account exists.
Apart from the confirmation link you receive at sign-up, emails only go to a verified address: password reset links, the notice sent when your password changes and, on the Pro plan, critical alerts. If you change your address from Settings, the change only takes effect once it is confirmed from both inboxes: your current address receives a link to confirm its replacement, the new one a link to confirm it. Until then, emails keep going to your current address.
To regain access, open Forgot password and use your verified email address. The link you receive lets you set a new password; with two-step verification, the page also asks for a code from your app. If the new password is refused, the page says why: the same as the current one, too common, or a missing code.
To change it while signed in, open Settings > Security: the form asks for your current password and, with two-step verification, a code from your app. Once your password is confirmed, the code is what remains: until it is entered, the other settings of the page are not saved, and leaving the form leads to the code step. An account created with Google or GitHub has no Patrima password: Settings > Security then shows Set a password, which leads to Forgot password with that account's email address, in place of the forms that ask for the current password. Do not enter your Google or GitHub password in Patrima.
In Settings > Security, two-step verification adds a 6-digit code to your password at each sign-in, including with Google or GitHub. The code comes from an authenticator app such as Google Authenticator, 1Password or Authy. It is optional.
To turn it on, enter your current password, scan the QR code with the app (or type the key by hand), then enter the code it shows. If you sign in with Google or GitHub and have no Patrima password, set one first (see Password). You can add a second app, on another device: a code from either one is enough. Adding a second app or removing one asks for a code from one of your apps. Changing your password or your email address asks for your current password, then a code from one of your apps; a reset through Forgot password asks for that code too.
No access to any of your apps? Write to support@patrima.app from your account's email address: once we have checked it is you, two-step verification is removed and your password alone opens your account again.
In Settings > Security, Sign out on the Other devices line closes every session of your account except the one on the device you are using, after a confirmation. Signing in there again asks for your password, and for your code when two-step verification is on. Nothing is deleted. Changing your password signs out your other devices too.
Sign out in the account menu signs out the device you are using only: your other devices stay signed in. On a device whose session was closed, Patrima says the session has ended and offers to sign in again, then brings you back to the page you were on.
Two actions ask for a sign-in from the last 10 minutes: deleting your account and connecting an exchange with an API key. With an older sign-in, the app says so and offers to sign in again, then brings you back to the page you were on. The check reads your session itself: reloading the page or staying active does not count as a new sign-in. A session left open is therefore not enough, on its own, to delete your account or add a key.
The interface exists in English and French. Language and theme (light, dark or system) are set in Settings, Display; dates and numbers follow the language. The language toggle in the app's sidebar switches the interface and also saves the language to your account, as Settings does. The toggle in the header of this site changes the language in this browser only. The home page, the pricing, the legal pages and this documentation also have their own address in French, under /fr (for example /fr/docs): a link to one of them opens in French for whoever receives it. The saved language is the one used for emails, those about signing in included (password reset, change of address), whether you sign in with a password, Google or GitHub. Notifications and the legal notice at the bottom of the app follow the language of the interface. The language you sign up in is saved to your account, and signing in on a browser where no language was chosen opens the app in your saved language.
The theme button in the app header, or in the account menu on mobile, switches between light and dark in one click, including from System mode. It also saves your choice to your account. On a browser with no theme choice yet, the app uses your saved preference. A theme already chosen on that browser stays in place.
In Settings > Data and privacy, download your data as JSON or delete your account. This export contains your Patrima data except connection credentials: your account details (email address, display name, sign-up date, language), your two-step verification apps (type, name, status, date added) and the sign-in methods linked to your account (provider, date added, last sign-in), the private beta access request of your email address, your accounts, transactions, positions, statements and preferences, and the rate history of your own opportunities. A file cut short is never saved: the page says the export did not complete. See the export guide for list and report exports.
During the private beta, deleting the account also removes the approval of its current email address: creating an account again with that address then takes a new access request.
Deletion is final
Deleting your account is immediate and irreversible: portfolio data, preferences and reports are removed, and the sign-in is disabled. Export first if you want to keep a copy. A period paid in crypto that is still running ends with the account. A paid subscription that is still active must be cancelled first, from the subscription settings: deleting the account does not stop it, so deletion stays unavailable until then. If the sign-in cannot be removed, a message says so: your data is already erased, and a new attempt completes the deletion.
