Accounts and data sources
Wallets, exchanges, brokers and manual accounts: what is read, how it refreshes, and what you control.
On this page
Accounts brings together your portfolio's sources. Connect a wallet or exchange to import data, or create an account you maintain manually. Then check the resulting positions and account status.
Four kinds of accounts
On-chain wallet, exchange, broker, manual. Imported ones are read from their source; the others are typed in by hand.
No operations on your platforms
The connection lets Patrima read data. It does not enable orders or withdrawals.
Connected sources and plans
Up to 5 connected wallets, exchanges or brokers on the free plan, unlimited on Pro and Premium. Manual accounts, and exchanges or wallets kept by hand without a key or an address, never count.
Undo the last import
You can reverse an account's latest import or synchronization, subject to the limits below.
On-chain wallet
- Where the data comes from
- Public on-chain data read from the address: token balances, DeFi positions, unclaimed rewards, on Ethereum, Arbitrum, Optimism, Base, Polygon, Avalanche, BNB Chain, zkSync, Linea, Scroll and Solana
- How it refreshes
- Resync, on demand
Exchange
- Where the data comes from
- Balances and trades read through a read-only API key on Binance, Coinbase or Kraken
- How it refreshes
- Resync, on demand
Broker or manual account
- Where the data comes from
- Positions and transactions entered manually, valued using prices available in Patrima.
- How it refreshes
- You, transaction by transaction
- 1
Paste the public address
The address format selects the ecosystem: an address starting with 0x scans the EVM chains, a Solana address scans Solana. To track both, import each wallet separately. Private keys are never asked for.
- 2
Pick the chains and review the preview
The scan shows DeFi positions, token balances and unclaimed rewards before anything is written. Under each borrow you select, a Liquidation threshold field is offered: it is optional, and with it the health factor and its alerts work from the import; it can also be entered later on the position.
- 3
Confirm the import
Positions are created and a snapshot of your portfolio is taken; if it is your first, it starts your history. Every token except the ones you already hold and the common assets (major coins and stablecoins) is checked once more against the wallet data; if the wallet changed since the scan, the import asks for a new scan. If that data cannot be read at that moment, nothing is imported and the same import can be sent again later.
Choose Connect exchange and enter a read-only API key created on Binance, Coinbase or Kraken. Check the preview, then choose Full history or Current balances only. An API key already connected to one of your accounts is refused, so an exchange is never counted twice. Connecting an exchange asks for a sign-in from the last 10 minutes: with an older sign-in, the app offers to sign in again before accepting the key.
On Binance and Coinbase, Patrima asks the exchange what the key may do before saving it. A key that can place orders, withdraw or transfer funds is refused, and the message names the permissions to switch off; a key whose permissions cannot be read at that moment is refused too, and you can scan again a little later. Kraken does not report a key's permissions: you confirm in the form that the key is query-only, as described below. A key already connected is checked again when the account synchronizes, automatically or when you choose Resync: if it allows more than reading, a notification says so once, also sent by email when you receive critical alerts by email, and the synchronization keeps reading the account.
Full history imports available trades and can include deposits and withdrawals. Each trade is written with its two sides: the asset bought and the dollars or stablecoins spent, or the reverse for a sale. A history with trades quoted in another currency, such as BTC, ETH or EUR, cannot be valued in dollars yet: it is refused, and Current balances only remains available. A very large history may be partial; the preview indicates this. Calculated profit and loss depends on the history's coverage and the fees included.
Keys stay read-only
A read-only key can list balances and trades but cannot trade or withdraw; that is all Patrima needs, and the key is held encrypted. Patrima verifies this with Binance and Coinbase, and relies on your confirmation for Kraken. Never share a key that carries trading or withdrawal permissions, on Patrima or anywhere else.
- 1
Open the API settings
On Kraken, open the account menu from the profile icon, then Settings, the API tab and Create API key. Give the key a description of your choice.
- 2
Check the Query permissions only
Check Query Funds, Query Open Orders & Trades, Query Closed Orders & Trades and Query Ledger Entries. Leave Deposit Funds, Withdraw Funds, Modify Orders, Cancel/Close Orders and every other permission unchecked, then generate the key.
- 3
Connect it in Patrima
In Connect exchange, choose Kraken, paste the API key and the API secret, then check the box confirming that the key is query-only. Without that confirmation, the scan does not start.
Create an account, then add transactions to build your positions: open the account from the list and choose New transaction. Manual is suitable for cash or investments tracked without a connection. Available prices update valuations; you remain responsible for keeping quantities and transactions up to date.
The form also offers On-chain Wallet, Exchange and Broker. An exchange with no API key, or a wallet that no synchronization has read yet, works like a manual account: its entries count in the performance. Its type stays: an exchange still counts in the exchange exposure of the risk score. An exchange with no key and a wallet with no address take no place in the source limit and offer no synchronization. A broker counts towards the source limit, as does a wallet given its address: the synchronization reads it, and from that first reading it is a connected account. The address of an On-chain Wallet is optional; when given, it is an EVM address (0x followed by 40 hexadecimal characters) or a Solana address, the two formats the wallet import reads.
Each row of the accounts list shows the account's state: Up to date, To check, Out of date, Sync failed, Paused, or Out of totals when a sale or transfer takes more than the account held at its date, which leaves its spot holdings out of the totals. Select a row to open the account's panel: it indicates whether synchronization is manual, automatic each day or paused, lists the account's holdings and holds the account's actions. With Hide dust positions on in Settings, holdings worth less than $1 are left out of that list, never one without a price. Resync re-reads a wallet's or an exchange's data. Pausing an account blocks both automatic and manual synchronization until you choose Resume synchronization. After each attempt, open Synchronization details to see the observation date, result and pending checks.
A partial synchronization keeps the latest verified data. A missing position or a change in its type must be confirmed by two complete observations at least 30 minutes apart. A DeFi position Patrima cannot represent yet, such as a loan backed by several collaterals, stays unchanged and marks the synchronization as partial, without preventing the rest of the wallet from being updated, including closing positions you have exited on other protocols or chains. On Binance, only the Spot wallet is read: balances held in Funding, Earn or Futures are not included, so the account's synchronization reads partial. Unexplained differences are not counted as gains. If the available history cannot support a reliable calculation, the affected performance remains unavailable instead of being estimated.
Manually edited fields on an imported yield or lending position are preserved, a close date included, and the opening date carries over when the sync turns a position from yield into lending or back. A yield position you closed by hand stays closed without holding back the rest of the wallet. A yield position closed and then observed again starts a new life from that observation: its opening date becomes that day unless you entered one, and a close date you entered, which belonged to the former life, is cleared. On a yield position, Reset to auto-sync gives the status, the close date and the amounts back to the sync, and reopens a position you had closed by hand; a risk you chose and an opening date you entered stay yours. Spot rows imported from a wallet or an exchange remain read-only within Patrima. A synchronized account keeps its type: to track a source by hand, one option is a manual account.
Undo last import/sync reverses the latest operation on that account and pauses its synchronization. Manual changes made in the meantime can prevent the undo; only the most recent operation can be undone. Choose Resume synchronization when you want to enable synchronization again.
A loan is followed as one collateral and one borrow. A protocol position with several collaterals or several borrows is not imported, its deposits included, and the import preview names it; its receipt tokens and its debt token, when Patrima recognizes them (Aave and Spark tokens, for instance), are not counted as spot holdings either. A tracked loan whose wallet comes to hold such a structure, or whose collateral or borrowed asset changes, keeps the amounts of its last applicable sync and reads Frozen since, with that date: its amounts read ≈, its health factor reads unavailable, it leaves the lowest health factor, and a notice says its monitoring is suspended. A tracked yield deposit that the wallet moves into such a loan is frozen the same way: its amount is that of its last applicable sync, read ≈, with Frozen since and its date. Lending and the dashboard's Lending line count these loans as not tracked, until a sync reads a structure Patrima can follow again. A loan repaid elsewhere closes, even next to an untracked loan on the same protocol and chain, unless that untracked loan now holds its collateral in the same quantity: it is then frozen.
A loan closed and then observed again starts from that observation, unless you entered its opening date; a close date you entered for its former life is cleared. An ignored open loan still covers its receipt token and its debt token, which never come back as spot holdings. On a loan, Reset to auto-sync gives the status, the close date and the amounts back to the sync; an opening date you entered, the notes, the pocket and the liquidation threshold stay yours.
Tokens marked with a tilde
The ~ suffix distinguishes a token from a known asset with the same symbol. In a synchronized wallet, it can also mark a token the data provider has not verified, even when no other asset uses its symbol. A token that enters Patrima unverified is named by its symbol, not by the name its issuer chose. Check its identity before interpreting its value. If it is spam, you can hide it from Transactions; hiding it changes what contributes to totals.
The free plan allows up to 5 connected sources, counting wallets, exchanges and brokers; Pro and Premium remove the limit. Manual accounts, archived accounts, and an exchange or a wallet kept by hand with no API key and no address never count. The limit applies when a new connected account is added; existing accounts keep working.
The card at the top shows the total across accounts, the risk score with its level, the share held on exchanges, idle capital and the number of accounts. The score is out of 100: a higher score means the measured concentration factors weigh less on your portfolio. It weighs exchange exposure, asset concentration, where productive capital sits and idle capital. Asset concentration is measured account by account and weighted by each account's value: a small account holding a single token weighs little. It does not measure every risk.
An asset without a price is never counted as $0. Its line reads Price unavailable, the account's total and the total across accounts add up the known values and read ≈, and the ? next to the total says how many assets are left out. The risk score leaves them out as well. A token with no known market is different: neither Patrima's price sources nor your wallet provider can price it, so it counts as zero and the totals stay exact.
When the score is below 75, a card lists the factors that lower it, each with the points it removes and how complex a change would be; a factor that removes more than half of its maximum is listed first. The score reachable by changing them all is an estimate, capped at 95. These are observations, not instructions: keeping things as they are is a legitimate option.
Idle capital refers to spot holdings that do not earn yield. The associated income estimate is indicative; keeping a reserve available can be a deliberate choice.
Archiving a tracked account takes it out of your current totals, the account pickers, the sync and the alerts, without changing assets on the platform. Its transactions, your past statements and your past performance stay as they are: its value when archived counts as a withdrawal at that date. When part of that value has no price, the performance starts again after that date. The keys of an archived exchange account are erased. If the account changes while its value is calculated, archiving is refused and can be run again: no outdated value is saved.
Archived accounts are listed at the bottom of the Accounts page, where one can be deleted. Deleting removes its transactions and its lines in past statements: past totals stay as they were taken, a transfer it made with another account stays on that account without its other side, and the performance history starts again from the next statement. A wallet followed by an archived account can be imported again once that account is deleted. Export any information you need before confirming.
To remove an exchange key's authorization, revoke it in the exchange's settings. Archiving or deleting in Patrima does not replace that step. A wallet added by public address grants no signing permission to revoke.
Archiving keeps the history, deleting restarts the performance
Archiving takes an account out of your current figures and keeps its history. Deleting an archived account removes its transactions and its lines in past statements: past totals stay as they were taken, and the performance history starts again from the next statement. The confirmation dialog says how many transactions. Deletion cannot be undone.
Frequently asked questions
Why does a token show a "~" suffix in its name?
Several tokens can use the same symbol. The ~ suffix identifies a distinct asset worth checking; it does not by itself prove fraud. In a synchronized wallet, it can also mark a token the data provider has not verified, which is common for new or little-known tokens. You can hide an unwanted token in Transactions, taking into account its exclusion from totals.
How often does my data refresh, and what does Resync do?
Live prices refresh roughly every 5 minutes. Each account's panel indicates whether its synchronization is manual, automatic each day or paused. Resync re-reads the data on demand: a wallet resync detects new, changed or closed positions; an exchange sync adds the new trades and transfers. Yield rates refresh daily; news and trading signals refresh every 15 minutes.
What happens if a wallet or exchange sync fails?
A failed scan preserves the last verified balances and their actual observation date. Account details refresh after each attempt; open Synchronization details to read the available refusal reason and pending checks. Identical repeated positions are counted once. Several positions of the same asset in the same pool that the provider lists under one identifier, such as two liquidity positions on the same pair, are combined into one position with their exact total quantity. Any other conflicting observation preserves saved balances. A partial synchronization may need a second complete observation at least 30 minutes later before closing or reclassifying a position. If the problem persists, contact support with the account type and error message, without sending an API key or secret.
I imported the wrong thing, or a resync messed up my data. Can I undo it?
Yes. Undo last import/sync reverses your most recent action on that account. For a first import it removes the positions it created; for a resync it restores the previous state: reopening positions the sync closed, putting amounts back and removing tokens it added. Undo is unavailable if affected data has changed since then. A successful undo pauses synchronization; choose Resume synchronization when you want to enable it again.
What is the difference between archiving and deleting an account?
Archiving takes the account out of your current totals, pickers, sync and alerts, and keeps its transactions, your past statements and your past performance; its value when archived counts as a withdrawal. Deleting, offered once the account is archived, removes its transactions and its lines in past statements. Past totals stay as they were taken, a transfer it made with another account stays on that account without its other side, and the performance history starts again from the next statement. Deletion cannot be undone.
What is "idle capital" in the accounts analysis?
Capital that sits in your accounts without generating yield. It is not an error: the analysis flags it as an opportunity and estimates what it could earn, so you can decide deliberately whether to deploy it.
Is it safe to give Patrima my exchange API key?
Create a read-only key: it can list balances and trades but cannot trade or withdraw. Patrima checks this with Binance and Coinbase before saving the key and refuses a broader one; for Kraken, you confirm that the key is query-only. The key is stored encrypted, and Patrima never executes anything on your accounts. A key entered for a scan you do not confirm is erased the next day at the latest. Never share keys that have trade or withdrawal permissions.
Why don't I see all chains when importing my wallet?
The address format determines the ecosystem: an EVM address (0x...) scans EVM chains, a Solana address scans Solana. To track both, import each wallet separately. An EVM address is the same wallet whatever the case of its letters, so a wallet is followed by one account only; a Solana address is kept exactly as written.
Why does the import preview say some borrows were not imported?
In Patrima, a lending position holds one collateral and one borrow. A protocol position that carries several borrows or several collaterals is therefore not imported, its deposits included: keeping a part of it would show a value and a health factor that are not the real ones. The preview names each one, with its assets, and its value is not counted in the wallet; while the wallet holds it, Lending and the dashboard's Lending line count it among the loans not tracked. A borrow attached to no position is left out as well. Later synchronizations leave such a position out and report the synchronization as partial.
